Water resources in Texas are comprised of a variety of sources: rivers, creeks, reservoirs, livestock “tanks,” springs, and aquifers. The use of these resources are managed in a complex system that must juggle the interests of industry, agriculture, municipalities, recreation and environment.

This site focuses on the water resources found in the hills of Central Texas, including the basics about aquifers, the management of groundwater, and the economic value of the water. The information is presented as an educational tool for the public in order to promote stewardship in this unique system.
